The basic process of viral infection and virus replication occurs in 6 main steps.
01 Adsorption – virus binds to the host cell
02 Penetration – virus injects its genome into host cell
03 Viral Genome Replication – viral genome replicates using the host’s cellular machinery
04 Assembly – viral components and enzymes are produced and begin to assemble
05 Maturation – viral components assemble and viruses fully develop
06 Release – newly produced viruses are expelled from the host cell

The thought process behind the animation was conceived during a particularly bad incident of man-flu [which of course is much worse than lady-flu] and wondering how it all actually happened in order to make you feel so ill.
The end result is simple fun with primitive shapes which have been altered, within the boundaries of the 3D environment, to become living organisms.
Sniff, where’s the Kleenex etc.
