Making your marque

These are a small sample of the logos and logotypes I’ve designed over the years while working for myself or in previous agency life. Most of these are final logos that were used. A few are concepts that didn’t make it, and alas remain forever stuck to the cutting room floor… SNIFF.

My explanation to my good friend Aimée Johnstone about the logotype design process

In many cases, these logos are small parts of the visual identity for either an event, a company or an individual. After all, they mean nothing without context and a logo is only as good as the way it’s used.

In the meantime I will strive for the ultimate marque which can be drawn easily in the sand, think either Nike or MacDonalds [I just realised there’s quite a contradiction there as one makes you fit where the other makes you fat… I may need to look for better case study examples!].

For the sake of clarity, I have also refrained from showcasing any of my favourite items created using the mighty Comic Sans due to ever growing peer pressure :/

There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW!

Wow is the one to aim for.
