Although it would be great to say something really cool about this, it’s simply a design bonus which came together while experimenting with particles as part of a learning curve resulting in the sequence.

This design bonus came about when by accident, the blending mode was changed in After Effects. This made the particles translucent on a set of already overlaid layers, and then led onto the usual, ‘I wonder what happens if I try this…’ part of the creative process.

Either way, the fluke led to a bingandabamandaboom moment and this end result.
